The story of Graham McKenzie's growth as an artist should be an inspiration for most artists, particularly amateurs.

Sometimes artistic ability springs forth from an early age, sometimes it develops gradually, and sometimes it develops in a seemingly haphazard fashion. Graham McKenzie is an example of the latter.

Although fascinated with drawing cars and musicians as a teen, the urge to create disappeared for many years before re-emerging in middle age after his subconscious began nudging him through his dreams to take up art again.

Though the artistic impulse was reawakened, and his paintings took on more and more complexity, he found himself lacking focus until he combined his art with his love of hiking.

Now he concentrates on depicting scenes from his hikes throughout the Faser Valley, which he finds both fulfilling and calming.

As he now says "nature is now my inspiration".
